We host events and fundraisers to build our community and support the school so that all Torridon pupils can learn and thrive. Our core objectives underpin everything we do.
Build an active and supportive community; foster positive relationships between families, school staff, and our neighbours
Provide fun and memorable experiences for children that help them to engage positively with school and their learning
Build the PTA’s capacity to establish a culture of engagement and deliver more for our community
Ensure everyone can fully participate in a rich school life, regardless of background or individual needs
Celebrate our diversity: meaningfully involve minority community members and showcase their culture
Raise money for school improvement projects, enrichment activities, and support for vulnerable families
We're a registered charity (No. 1103329) run entirely by volunteers with support from school staff. Anyone who wants to support us is welcome to get involved as much or as little as they like. There's no sign up process or membership fee.
Anyone who has an interest in supporting us is a member of the PTA, including:
Parents and carers of current, former, and future Torridon pupils
Teachers and support staff
Friends and extended family members
Neighbours and business leaders
Want to support our school community by raising funds or volunteering? YOU'RE a member of the PTA!
A board of volunteer trustees who are elected after each Annual General Meeting lead the PTA. Together, trustees are responsible for the charity's governance: managing the finances; ensuring we follow relevant laws, regulations, and best practice; and overseeing our strategic direction. Trustees also support the fantastic volunteers who lead the events we host throughout the year.
Mom to Emmaline (5A) and Tom (2E), Megan is from Little Rock, Arkansas. She moved to London in 2008 after a stint in Japan, where she met her British husband Adam. She has worked as a charity executive and freelance graphic designer. Megan enjoys making spreadsheets and taking deep dives into whatever project she's working on, usually related to home renovation, international travel, or the PTA.
Mum to Elliot (Yr9), Grace (Yr8) and Holly (3G), Ruth was a secondary school teacher in London for 15 years before joining Bromley Youth Music Trust as a piano teacher. Ruth has been a keen supporter of the PTA for the last 10 years and enjoys leading and helping out at events.
Mum to Otis in Reception, Sarah leads the LEGO Group’s Social Responsibility agenda in the UK and is a strong advocate for learning through play. Sarah works closely with Abbotshall to engage volunteers and is excited to get stuck into PTA work and events.
Mum to Bjorn (5C) and Lovisa (4K), Teresa is from Sweden and works in international development. After four years in Mozambique with the UN, her family returned to Catford last year. She enjoyed engaging in their previous school’s community and is excited to join PTA activities.
With proceeds from our fundraising efforts and generous donations from our supporters, we fund school improvement projects, resources, and activities that support and enhance the curriculum. We are proud to earmark 10% of all of our net proceeds to support vulnerable families in our community.
Over the last 5 years we have invested over £50,000 in the school and paid over £7,000 to support vulnerable families.
